A Blog of Thoughts, Feelings, Emotions  and the Life that I see around Me

Finding my first love

Photography.  I have missed it.  I have missed shooting.  I have miss my Photo a Day project.    As some of you may know.  I am now working at Wells Blue Bunny making Ice Cream.  I must say that it is the most boring job that I have ever had.  However.  I it is also the most money I have ever made.  The crappy part is that I am working nights, and when I get home all I want to do is sleep.  So I'm sure you can see how that would make Photography hard.

The delay in Photo a Day is taking much longer then I originally thought it would.  And for that I apologize.

Ok well I have not slept since 3:00 pm on Friday.  And I work tonight.  So I bid you ado.

My First Day

Today was my first day at orientation with Wells' Blue Bunny.  So far I am enjoying it.  Seems like the type of place that would care about it's employees.  Tomorrow I am have more orientation, then on Wednesday I have on the- job-training.  So should be interesting.

I just updated Photo a Day. So make sure you take a look at it.

Facebook app

I just came across this on engagdet.  I guess Burger King does not like how we all spend so much time on the internet and not at their restaurant eating.  As they just came out with a new app that will get a you free whopper if you delete 10 of your facebook friends.  Whopper Sacerfice will not win!!!!

Very cool photo project!!!

After setting up my sisters iGoogle, and adding NPR on it.  She came across this website about a bunch of photographers taking an image at 7:15pm everyday for a year.  The project has now come to a close as of 12-31-08.

The website is www.sametime715.com.  So give it a look over.  Maybe something you and your friends would like to do.

A New Year.

The year of 2008 has been an interesting to say the least.  Lessons have been learned and relearned.  Hearts have been broken and healed, and broken again.  I have meet so many new people, and lost touch with so many others.  New Lives have come into my family.  And lives have been lost.  So much has changed.  So much is different.  But I stand.  Undeterred.  Ready to do all that needs to be done to rise above these things, and to challenge others through them.  To show that the is indeed hope at the end of the road.

A New Home and Time With Family

I will be heading back down to Omaha tomorrow to get the last of my stuff and give the place a good cleaning.  I have not really dug into any of my stuff due there being a ton of people around these past few days.    So I think that it will be nice not to have so many bodies around.

My Christmas was great!  I love being able to spend time with family!  One of my gifts from my parents was some lighting gear!  I am going to have to get a softbox and some grids for em.  But so far I really enjoy them.

Well I guess I better get going now.

Good Things Come to Those Who Wait.

So some of you may know that I have been having some issues with my iPhone 3G.  My parents came down to Omaha this evening.  We ended up going to the Apple Store out at Village Pointe.  She was having some rather interesting problems with her macbook.   They were able to figure it all out in the end (sort of)  They also hooked her up with a new battery for free.  But.  Back to the iPhone.    At some point on my 2nd to last day with Estate Gardeners Inc. I got a crack in my LCD display.  And since there was no  (visible) physical damage to the device itself, they replaced it for free.  So needless I was/am very happy about that.

A Season For Change

I have decided that I shall move up to Sioux City.  I am going to a job fair tomorrow morning.  So we will see what comes of that.

After living by ones self for so long, you start to get into a habbit of doing things.  Like getting out of the shower and not worrying about having clothes on.  About not eating at the table.  Like watching whatever tv show I want whenever I want.  I have grown used to silence.  To calmness.  Of doing my own thing and not having people ask "what are you doing?" or "where are you going?"  I grow weary of those types of questions.

Snow and Cold

As I am writing this it is -2 with a windchill of -31 with a wind out of the north wind of 36 mph.
I have been missing the snow as we have not gotten any down in Omaha.  In the end all it took was for me to come up north a few miles.

I am going to be working on the Fox tomorrow.  I need to get my reverse working on it.  All I need to do is fix the shifter bushings.  The price on for them is only around 40$  However that is a little more then I have at the moment.  So I am going to try and put something together that will get around for a while.

Was talking to my parents this evening about my financial life.  I sort of got the feeling that they think I should move back up here and start doing Photography.  I need to talk to them about what all I would need to get a business up.   In a past entry I told you that I gave my Mum a list of some lighting gear that i wanted for Christmas.    I think that moving up here would be good for me.  Being close to family, I think would help keep me accountable.

Time Away

So i had to get away from O-town.  I was not doing anything down there, and the whole being alone for that long has not been very healthy for me.  For instance.  Last night I did not go to bed till 5:00 am.  I was up watching tv, movies and drinking some dp n jack.  So I decided that i would come up to Sioux City and be with family.  I figured I can wait for the phone just as up here as I could down there.    So I left after I shot my brother and his family photos.  To be honest, I was not really happy with any of the shots I got.  But I guess that is sort of the way it is with any Photographer.  I think the main reason I was not really pleased with the images was that my lighting gear was doing the this really annoying thing where puts these noise lines throughout the image.  I have been seeking advise on why this is happening to my images, but so far to no avail.   I have some theories about it.  One being the fact that I am using rechargeable batteries.  Rechargeable batteries are 1.2v as where a normal alkaline or lithium battery is 1.5 volt.  Now I would think that the capacitor would get charged enough to put out full power.  But I am not sure.  At any rate.  I told my Mum that a lighting kit would be a cool idea.

So I guess that it is getting late.  And I actually want to get out of bed in the morning and do stuff.

A 3G Network

3G has been added to the Omaha area.  I have not gone out of the house so i have not really had a chance to see how well it works.

I decided that I would see just what kind of speeds I get using the new 3G network.
Here is the results of that test.IMG_0003

Now 3G is not yet listed on AT&T coverage map.  However if you click here you can find your state and see what cities it is available  in.

Photo Friday

My old classmates and I belong to a blog where every Friday we upload a few of our most resent images.  So here are this Fridays images.

I found myself up in Sioux City this past weekend. Now this was not an unplanned visit. Nor was it without a purpose.

I went up there to take my sisters family photos. I must say that it was very enjoyable to be shooting again.

These next two photos are of Samuel Gerald Cherkas (his first month photos)

Photo Friday

This next photo is of my sister Sara. She is planning on following our parents and going to the missions field. She hopes to be in India at the beginning of February. So she wanted me to take her prayer letter photo.

Photo Friday-3

These shots were taken with a 580ex and 430ex flash units, with 32in umbrellas using ebay wireless triggers. (they are cheap as hell... but do the job.)

Memories from the past...

So here I lay.  On my bed at 2:12am.  I am listening to Adventures in Odyssey. It's great to remember all the fun times that I had as a young one listening to AIO.

On my way home from work today (or rather yesterday) I stopped at Wal-Mart, and picked up some movies to watch from the Redbox. One of the movies that picked was called Street Racer.  I must say that it was one of the worst movies that i have seen in a long time.  I am very glad that i saved The Dark Knight for last.

So what are some of your favorite childhood memories?

Unemployment.

Yep.  the rumors were true.  I am indeed unemployed once again.    I have been looking for a new job for quite some time now, as I knew that this was coming (seeing as how Landscaping is seasonal work)  I went and filled out an application at a place called Sunco for a snow removal position that they have open.  So we will see how that goes.
